Compare this to the circumstance of the Jonathan Pollard trial and sentencing. There, the judge overruled the plea bargain agreement and imposed a life sentence. And it seems that life MEANS life. Pollard has already served 25 years and all efforts to obtain parole or clemency have been refused by a succession of presidents.
Only last month Vice -President Joe Biden stated that Pollard would be released “over my dead body” (unquote).
The Americans really take their secrecy issues seriously.
They certainly place a higher value on them than Israel.
