Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something.
In the 63 years since its Independence, Israel has had 12 different Prime Ministers. Four of them, including the present incumbent, served 2 terms. History will judge success or failure according to their actions. But there is another way in which they will be remembered. Their words of wit or wisdom. Were they so memorable as to be ingrained forever in the minds of men? (Just an expression – women included, of course).

In the light of current events in Egypt one must be concerned that peace agreements in this region are signed with individuals and not governments.
” Things you see from there are not what you see from here.” **
” Israel is the only country in the world against which there is a written document to the effect that it must disappear.”
” The Partition of Palestine is illegal. It will never be recognised… Jerusalem was and will for ever be our capital.”
” Israel will not transfer Judea, Samaria and the Gaza district to any foreign sovereign authority.”
” The world must know that the Jewish people have a right to self defense, just like any other people.”
He was wrong about Gaza!
[** Ariel Sharon is credited with a very similar quote.]
” The Palestinians are beasts walking on two legs.” (1)
“Our race is the Master Race. We are divine gods on this planet. We are as different from the inferior races as they are from insects. In fact, compared to our race, other races are beasts and animals, cattle at best. Other races are considered as human excrement. Our destiny is to rule over the inferior races. Our earthly kingdom will be ruled by our leader with a rod of iron. The masses will lick our feet and serve us as our slaves.” (2)
(1) Taken from a speech in the Knesset. Begin stated that he was referring specifically to Palestinian terrorists that targeted children.
(2) This was circulating on the web and can still be found on sites supporting the Palestinian cause. In May 2009 the Begin centre issued a strong denial that Begin ever said these words:
“First of all, Mr. Begin never said those words and there is no factual basis for that quote. When we searched for the quote, we found that it looped back to the same text by Texe Marrs, who does not say that he is quoting Begin………The quotation is bogus”
